1st Reading: Genesis 2:18-24 - Emily Wismer
Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone;
I will make him a helper as his partner.’
So out of the ground the LORD God formed
every animal of the field and every bird of the air,
and brought them to the man to see what he would call them;
and whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.
The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air,
and to every animal of the field;
but for the man there was not found a helper as his partner.
So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept;
then he took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.
And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man
he made into a woman and brought her to the man.
Then the man said, ‘This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
this one shall be called Woman, for out of Man this one was taken.’
Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife,
and they become one flesh.
2nd Reading: "Love Is" (by Susan Polis Schutz) - Krista Cox
Love is being happy for the other person when they are happy,
being sad for the other person when they are sad,
being together in good times and being together in bad times.
Love is the source of strength.
Love is being honest with yourself at all times,
being honest with the other person at all times,
telling, listening, respecting the truth and never pretending.
Love is the source of reality.
Love is an understanding that is so complete
that you feel as if you are a part of the other person
accepting the other person just the way they are
and not trying to change them to be something else.
Love is the source of unity.
Love is the freedom to pursue your own desires
while sharing your experiences with the other person,
the growth of one individual alongside of and together with
the growth of another individual.
Love is the source of success.
Love is the excitement of planning things together,
the excitement of doing things together.
Love is the source of the future.
Love is the fury of the storm,
the calm of the rainbow.
Love is the source of passion.
Love is giving and taking in a daily situation,
being patient with each other's needs and desires.
Love is the source of sharing.
Love is knowing that the other person will always be with you
regardless of what happens,
missing the other person when they are away,
but remaining near in heart at all times.
Love is the source of security.
Love is the source of life.
Vows: Wendy & Michael
I choose you as my everything.
I vow to love you through sickness and health,
through the good and the bad,
through richer and poorer.
You are everything that I need, and at this moment
I know that all my prayers have been answered
and that all of my dreams have come true.
This is the moment I have waited my whole life for.
I promise to give you my all and I know that I could not ask for more from you.
I love you and always will.
This is my solemn vow.
